Can my family help me or find me?
No and yes. Once ICE arrests a person, family members cannot stop the detention or control what happens next. ICE makes detention decisions based on immigration history, prior orders, and criminal records. The primary way family members can help is by providing emotional support and, if appropriate, by helping pay for a lawyer.
Family members can locate a detained person using the ICE Online Detainee Locator at https://locator.ice.gov/odls or by calling ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) at 1-888-351-4024 to determine which office or detention facility has custody.
